I have a 3SD 5hp pump. I didn't purchase it but I'm installing it for a costomer. I didn't get any paper wor or drawings on motor. My question is what is the control cable (yellow) coming out of motor used for. Is this the motor thermals or what. I've tryied contacting Goulds tech. support three times with no response, please help advise or something, thanks.

Brent,
Typically the yellow control cables on the Gould's 3SD series pumps house the pump seal sensor lines. These are used to detect moisture in an intermediate cavity between the motor and volute which is designed to protect the motor should the seals leak. Thanks,
