A circulator pump moves water through a heating or cooling system. Circulator pumps used in hydronic systems are usually electrically powered centrifugal pumps. Residential circulator pumps are small, low-horsepower units with a motor rotor, pump impeller, and support bearings sealed within. Commercial circulators have higher horsepower ratings and exterior motors. Small circulator pumps are usually supported by the pipe flanges that join them to the rest of the hydronic system. Large pumps are generally pad-mounted.
